![]() The major reason for me thinking that is quite easily the fact, that there were numerous complaints about certain maps crashing, which were refused to be taken into account during the discussion, but some time later, indeed implemented based on user feedback. Things that are potentially causing the game to crash -which I will list under this section-, should be obvious, even though the two major devs seem to either ignore, or blatantly not tell the whole truth about what's happening. any wrong installation, or usage of any other than the SDK 2006 engine, or anything other related stuff in that regard any Smod addon, or any form of visual customizers, like ENB, or Reshadeĥ. any of the former mentioned related driversĤ. That's what you do if you're dedicated to solve problems, because you really badly want to play a very fine mod, right? That's also why I'm so briskly show up the things that are not responsible for the crashes:Ģ. Did you make sure to read anything related to the issue, and did you make sure to follow any single instruction? Yes I did. Can I verify that the crashes are related to the mapadds? Yes I can. So the idea here is, for the moment, fix the fixable stuff -in that case the source code unrelated stuff, primarely focused on the "mapadds"-, so anyone still playing the Mod can enjoy it without crashing. It's all well self taught, given my PC Masterrace background for more than 3,5 decades. I'd say "customize" code, because I actually do not have a professional coder background, or PC professional background in that regard. ![]() I'm able to "customize" 6 different coding languages, including C++, and I would frequently use Gimp to customize visuals. Skyrim and Fallout 4 most noticeable, but I'm also fluent in Minecraft, the Civ series, and the Mount&Blade series. Do I have background as modder? Yes I do. Hence the thread title Help me to fix SMOD - Redux 1.4.2. So, you may ask:"What is this guy up for"? Well, I want to play this mod badly, but I also don't want it to constantly crash. Removing the particular mapadd file entirely did. Using the recommended console option did not fix the crash. I did what recommends in one of the complaint posts(page 37 in the standalone installer thread I believe), removing, respectively disabling the mapadd feature for that particular map. Map d1_canals_08, most of the time it happens when using bullet time. It crashes all the time in the same place. And without question, it did more than just creating a remarkable impression. I just recently returned to source games, in particular Black Mesa, and reactivating the old interest in HL2, I figure I maybe want to try this Smod anybody was, and till is, talking about. To my shame I have to admit, I've never played Smod cause Substance delivered anything I needed, though in a quite sandboxish/hacky way. cfg hacks, primarly for Gmod, all based on inspiration of the Substance Mod, back in the days. Left for good in 2008, because of shift in general game interest. Long time HL2 and source related games player.
